Praise ye the LORD: for the LORD is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” — Psalm 136:1 (KJV)
There are moments in life when we look back and realize that we have nothing to boast about except the goodness and faithfulness of God.
He has protected us.
He has provided for us.
He has guided us.
He has brought us through situations we never thought we could overcome.
Even when we felt unworthy, the Lord continued to bless us and lead us. Our response should be praise.
Praise Is Powerful
The Bible shows us again and again that God delights in the praise of His people.
After the flood, Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices to the Lord. His worship was followed by God’s covenant and promise.
Praise is not simply singing a song. It is recognizing who God is and remembering what He has done.
When we praise God in difficult circumstances, we shift our attention from the size of our problem to the greatness of our God.
Praise Can Go Before the Battle
One of the powerful examples of this is found in the story of Jehoshaphat.
When God’s people faced a great enemy, they sought the Lord for direction. Instead of relying only on their own strength, they trusted God.
They went forward praising Him.
The people who praised God went before the army, and as they worshipped, the Lord brought victory.
Their praise became an expression of their faith.
Sometimes we want God to remove the battle before we praise Him. But Scripture teaches us that we can praise Him even while the battle is still in front of us.
Praise in the Midst of Your Struggle
Perhaps today you are facing a battle.
Maybe there is a financial burden.
Maybe there is a difficult situation in your family.
Maybe you are facing uncertainty about your future.
Maybe there is a physical, emotional, or spiritual struggle.
You may feel surrounded by obstacles.
But don’t forget what God has already done.
Remember His faithfulness.
Remember His protection.
Remember His provision.
Remember the doors He has opened.
Remember the times He carried you when you could not carry yourself.
Then begin to praise Him.
Praise does not mean that the problem is not real. It means that your problem is not greater than your God.
The Walls of Jericho
The story of Jericho gives us another powerful picture.
Israel stood before a seemingly impossible obstacle—the walls of Jericho.
God gave them unusual instructions. They were to march around the city for six days. On the seventh day, they were to march around it again and shout.
They obeyed God’s instructions.
Then they lifted their voices.
And the walls fell.
What looked impossible from a human perspective was not impossible for God.
There may be walls standing before you today.
Walls of fear.
Walls of discouragement.
Walls of financial difficulty.
Walls of opposition.
Walls that have remained for a long time.
But keep trusting God.
Keep obeying His Word.
Keep praying.
Keep praising.
The wall may be standing today, but God is still able to bring it down.
Praise Changes Our Hearts
When we praise God, something also happens inside us.
Our circumstances may not immediately change, but our perspective begins to change.
Fear begins to lose its grip.
Anxiety begins to give way to faith.
Confusion begins to give way to trust.
Instead of constantly asking, “How will I overcome this?”, we begin to remember:
“God is with me.”
The same God who helped us yesterday is still God today.
Your Victory Is in God’s Hands
The enemy may bring obstacles, opposition, and discouragement.
But our confidence is not in our own strength.
Our confidence is in the Lord.
When we praise Him, we declare that He is greater than our circumstances.
When we worship Him, we declare that He is worthy even before we see the answer.
When we trust Him, we declare that our future is in His hands.
So whatever you are facing today, don’t give up.
Don’t allow the obstacle to silence your praise.
Praise Him while you wait.
Praise Him while you pray.
Praise Him while you walk through the battle.
Praise Him until the breakthrough comes.
The God who delivered you before is still faithful.
The God who protected you before is still protecting you.
The God who made a way before is still able to make a way again.
Your obstacle may be big, but your God is bigger.
Keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep praising.
Keep trusting.
There is still hope.
There is still a way.
And there is still a God who fights for His people.
To God be all the glory. Amen.
