    What Is Your Goal?

In a world filled with distractions, ambitions, and endless responsibilities, one question rises above the noise: What is your goal?

King David desired one thing, and he desired it with all his heart. His longing was simple yet profound — to behold the Lord, to dwell in His presence. In Psalm 27:4 he declares that his single desire was to seek after God and to gaze upon His beauty. His confidence was unwavering; in Psalm 23 he boldly proclaims, “Surely… I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” David lived with eternity in view.

The apostle Paul the Apostle carried that same single-minded passion. Writing in Philippians 3:13–14, he says, “This ONE THING I do… forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul was not divided. His past did not define him, nor did worldly ambitions distract him. His eyes were fixed on the eternal prize.

In Luke 10, we encounter another powerful contrast. When Martha was overwhelmed with many concerns, Jesus gently corrected her: only one thing was necessary. Mary had chosen what truly mattered — sitting at the Lord’s feet. The lesson is clear: when we neglect the one essential thing, we become burdened by many lesser things.

Today, the Lord asks each of us:

    • Are you a person of one mind?
    • Or is your heart divided among many pursuits?
    • What are you truly seeking?

The world constantly tempts us to chase material success, recognition, comfort, and security. Yet goals rooted only in this life end at the grave. Our true aim must reach beyond it.

To live single-mindedly does not mean neglecting responsibilities; it means ordering them correctly. When God becomes our central pursuit, everything else finds its proper place.

Like David, let us desire one thing.
Like Paul, let us press toward one prize.
Like Mary, let us choose the better part.

Let us have one aim, and set our minds firmly upon it — to seek the Lord, to know Him deeply, and to dwell with Him forever.

Because when our goal is eternal, our life gains eternal significance.
