When we look at the life of Moses, we see a powerful example of a personal encounter with God.
Before Moses met God, he had only a limited understanding of Him. He did not know how to fulfill the calling in his life. He tried to do it in his own strength and understanding.
What was the result of his efforts?
He killed a man and tried to hide his mistake. His life became a mess, and eventually, he had to flee for his life.
This shows us something important:
We cannot fulfill the will of God with our own understanding.
Moses had achieved many things in Egypt. He was a prince, educated in all the wisdom and science of Egypt. From a worldly perspective, he was successful. Yet, his life was still a failure in God’s plan.
Then, in the wilderness, God met him.
God revealed Himself through the burning bush. This encounter changed everything. Moses began to see life not from his own perspective, but from God’s.
The Example of Saul (Paul)
There is another man in the Bible who had a life-changing encounter with God—Saul, who later became Paul (Acts 9:3–6).
Saul was very zealous for his religion, but he was working against God’s people. He believed he was doing the right thing, but he was actually opposing God’s plan.
However, on the road to Damascus, God met him.
That encounter transformed his life completely.
When the Lord spoke to Saul, his spiritual eyes were opened. He understood God’s will and surrendered his life. He later became one of the greatest apostles in the New Testament.
This teaches us:
Even when we think we are on the right path, we may still be outside God’s plan unless He reveals it to us.
Lessons for Our Lives
1. Make a Decision to Follow God
First, we must decide to enter into God’s will and His purpose for our lives.
2. Be Steadfast
We must remain firm in that decision.
We should not waver but stay committed to living for God.
3. Be Willing to Sacrifice
As written in Philippians 3:8:
“I count all things as loss compared to the greatness of knowing Christ.”
We must be ready to give up anything that stands in the way of our relationship with Christ.
4. Live a Different Life
Look at Daniel—he dared to stand firm and live differently from others.
If we follow the world and our own desires, we cannot live a spiritually successful life. True success comes from standing for God, even if it costs us something.
5. Create the Right Environment
Consider Joshua and Caleb. While others gave a negative report, they chose faith. They did not follow the majority.
They created a spiritual environment that helped them stay strong and united in God’s purpose.
If we surrender to the will of God and remain faithful, we will reach the purpose He has for our lives.
Let surrender completely to God’s will.
