Be Humble Enough to Apologize and Forgive Everyone

by perfectinchristjesuslife community

There is a beautiful truth found throughout Scripture: God is great beyond our imagination, yet He is humble enough to forgive sinners like us. Because He forgives us, we are also called to forgive others.

The message of forgiveness is not just about emotions or relationships—it is deeply connected to our walk with God, our healing, and even our spiritual readiness for eternity.

The Greatness of God

The prophet The Book of Isaiah declares:

“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand?” — Isaiah 40:12

Think about the vast oceans of the world—the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and every river and sea. Yet the Bible says God can hold all the waters of the earth in the hollow of His hand.

What an incredible picture of His greatness.

And yet, this mighty God chooses to dwell in the hearts of humble people. The Creator of the universe enters our small hearts with love and mercy. That is the mystery of God’s humility.

God Gives Grace to the Humble

The Bible repeatedly teaches that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

In Second Book of Chronicles 7:14, God says:

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray… then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.”

Humility opens the door for forgiveness, healing, restoration, and revival.

Why Forgiveness Matters

Many people struggle to forgive because they focus on how deeply they were hurt. But when we look at the cross and remember how much Jesus forgave us, forgiveness becomes possible.

Jesus Christ forgave our sins completely. If God kept a record of every wrong we committed, none of us could stand before Him. Yet in His mercy, He forgives freely.

When we refuse to forgive others, pride often hides in our hearts.

True humility says:

  • “Lord, You forgave me.”
  • “Help me forgive others.”
  • “Teach me to love as You loved me.”
A Powerful Lesson About Unforgiveness

A Christian woman faithfully served in church, prayed passionately, and led many people to faith. But during a serious illness, she experienced a vision in which she saw the glory of heaven.

As she longed to enter, she sensed the Lord revealing something painful: she held bitterness against her own sister and had refused to speak to her for years.

Though outwardly spiritual, inwardly she carried unforgiveness.

Broken and repentant, she cried out to God for another chance. After receiving strength, she contacted her sister, embraced her, apologized, and sought reconciliation.

Peace returned. Healing followed. Even her family members were touched by the love of Christ through that act of humility.

This story reminds us that outward religion cannot replace a forgiving heart.

Be Humble Enough to Apologize

Sometimes we are not the injured person—we are the one who caused the hurt.

Pride says:

  • “I did nothing wrong.”
  • “They should apologize first.”
  • “It’s too embarrassing.”

But humility says:

  • “I hurt you.”
  • “Please forgive me.”
  • “Let’s make peace.”

Apologizing takes courage. It requires dying to self. Yet reconciliation brings freedom, healing, and joy.

The Bible teaches:

“Blessed are the peacemakers.”

Don’t Wait Too Long

One of the strongest warnings in Scripture is not to let bitterness remain in our hearts.

We are not promised another opportunity tomorrow. Today is the day to forgive, reconcile, and make peace.

Perhaps there is:

  • a family member you no longer speak to,
  • a friend you secretly resent,
  • a spouse you have emotionally withdrawn from,
  • or someone whose words wounded you deeply.

Bring that pain before God.

Ask Him for the grace to forgive.

Forgiveness Brings Healing

God still heals hearts, relationships, and lives. Sometimes the miracle begins not with a dramatic event, but with a humble apology, a phone call, a prayer, or tears of reconciliation.

Forgiveness does not erase wisdom or boundaries when needed, but it releases hatred, bitterness, and revenge into God’s hands.

When we forgive:

  • our hearts become lighter,
  • peace returns,
  • and God’s love flows more freely through us.

Final Encouragement

Our greatest goal is not merely earthly blessing or physical healing—it is to walk faithfully with Christ and safely reach eternity with Him.

So today:

  • Forgive freely.
  • Love deeply.
  • Apologize humbly.
  • Reconcile quickly.

As God has forgiven us, let us forgive one another.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32
