How Should We Praise and Glorify God?

When we praise and glorify God, something powerful happens in the spiritual realm. The enemy, Satan, cannot stand in the presence of sincere worship. When believers lift up the name of Jesus Christ, darkness is pushed back and the enemy is put to shame. God has given power and authority to the name of Jesus, and through praise we proclaim that power.

To praise God means to give Him the honor and recognition He deserves. God does not need our admiration in order to be complete—He is sovereign and perfect on His own. Yet He invites us to praise Him because it transforms our hearts and strengthens our relationship with Him.

    Why Should We Praise God?
    1. Praise shows our complete dependence on Him.
When we praise God, we acknowledge that our lives, strength, and blessings come from Him.

    2. Praise demonstrates our faith.
Even in difficult times, praising God shows that we trust His plan and His goodness.

    3. God deserves our praise.
He is the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer of life.

    4. Praise is an act of gratitude.
It expresses thankfulness for His mercy, grace, and love.

    Ways to Praise God

    1. Lifting Our Hands

Raising our hands is a sign of surrender, admiration, and worship before God.

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.”
    (Psalm 134:2, KJV)

    2. Kneeling in Humility

Kneeling before God expresses humility and reverence for the One who created us.

“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.”
    (Psalm 95:6, KJV)

    3. Praising with Our Lips

Speaking words of praise and thanksgiving to God is a form of spiritual offering.

“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
    (Hebrews 13:15, KJV)

    4. Singing Praises

Singing to God refreshes our spirit, aligns our priorities, and restores our soul.

“Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.”
    (Psalm 147:1, KJV)

    5. Praising Together with Believers

When we gather with fellow believers and worship together, our unity strengthens and our faith grows.

“I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.”
    (Hebrews 2:12, KJV)

    6. Praising Through Dance and Instruments

In the Old Testament, dancing and musical instruments were expressions of joyful worship before God. If God has given you a talent—whether singing, playing instruments, or dancing—use it to glorify Him.

“Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.”
    (Psalm 149:3, KJV)

When we continually praise God, our hearts become filled with gratitude, our faith grows stronger, and the presence of God becomes more real in our lives. In every season—joyful or difficult—let us lift our voices and glorify the Lord.
