“Safe in the Ark”
“Every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground… and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.” (Genesis 7:23)
The very waters that lifted up Noah also destroyed those outside the ark. What a striking picture of the difference between those who trust in God and those who rely on themselves.
Trials come to everyone—but they do not have the same outcome for everyone.
Those without Christ may feel overwhelmed, as though they are drowning in life’s storms. But those who cling to Christ—who take refuge in Him—are not destroyed by the flood. Instead, they are lifted by it. The same storm that brings judgment to some becomes a means of drawing others closer to God.
“All things work together for good to them that love God.” (Romans 8:28)
Even suffering, when surrendered to God, becomes a tool for growth. As it has been wisely said:
“Sanctified afflictions are spiritual promotions.”
So when trouble comes, do not panic.
Instead, echo the words of David:
“My soul trusteth in Thee: yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.” (Psalm 57:1)
If you are in the Ark—safe in Christ—no flood, no trial, no storm, no matter how fierce, can destroy you.
“Seas of sorrow, seas of trial,
Bitterest anguish, fiercest pain,
Rolling rages of temptation,
Sweeping over heart and brain—
They shall never overflow us.”
